FIU Estate & Planned Giving
Meet the Team
Hello FIU Panthers and friends,
My name is Amy Mauser and I am thrilled to be a new member of the FIU Foundation family. I'll be working with the University community to share tools for building legacies with gifts. As the Director of Estate & Planned Giving, I look forward to working with many of our most loyal alumni and friends to create plans that have long-term impact on our students, programs, and campuses.
I have planned giving, legal, and nonprofit management experience that I hope I can put to work for you. In past roles, I have worked for organizations including the American Red Cross, the Norton Museum of Art and, most recently, the Parkinson's Foundation. They sound very different; however, each organization has passionate supporters who are looking for ways to leave a legacy.
Planned giving has gotten a reputation over the years for being too complicated. In speaking with donors, I have heard about what a headache the process is, as it can involve lawyers, accountants, and family. In reality, including the University in your plans doesn't have to be tricky. It can be as easy as changing the designation on your retirement fund. I hope you'll enjoy hearing about the areas where your support—large or small—will help us reach the Next Horizon.
Now is a good time to review your plan. With the 2018 changes in the tax law, it is a good time to revisit (or create!) your will, consider what charities are important to you, and discuss how you can best use your assets to make a difference.
I am excited to be at FIU, to meet the students, to hear alumni stories, and to witness the changes that are ahead. I look forward to helping you learn how to be a part of that excitement. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out at 305-348-8351 or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
